Designer, builder, and curious problem solver.

Hi, I’m Toby. I’m a product designer with a background in software engineering and more than five years of experience working across startups, SaaS, and Web3 products.

My work usually lives where product thinking, interface craft, and implementation reality meet. I like turning messy ideas into systems and flows that feel clear to users and practical for teams to build.

Most of the problems I’m drawn to involve some kind of complexity: operational workflows, financial behavior, emerging technology, or products still trying to find their shape.

My approach is to reduce friction without flattening the nuance. Good design should guide decisions, create trust, and make complicated systems feel intuitive enough that people can move with confidence.

Work Experience

Teams and products I’ve worked with.

May 2024 - Present

Lead Product Designer

Rethinkable

Led the product design direction for a planning and money-management concept, shaping information architecture, calmer interaction patterns, and a visual system that made long-term financial decisions feel less intimidating. Worked closely with product and engineering constraints so the experience stayed emotionally reassuring without losing operational clarity or momentum.

January 2024 - April 2024

Product Design Consultant

Storyvault

Helped define the structure of a creator-facing platform that needed to balance storytelling, commerce, and content management in one flow. I mapped contributor journeys, refined the key publishing moments, and built interface patterns that kept the product feeling guided and lightweight even when the underlying system was doing a lot of work.

August 2023 - December 2023

Lead Product Designer

QuickSave

Designed service and dashboard flows for a savings product focused on habit building, progress visibility, and day-to-day confidence. The work covered onboarding, goal creation, and account states, with a strong emphasis on copy, pacing, and hierarchy so each action felt obvious rather than financially loaded or stressful.

March 2023 - November 2023

Product Designer

Cro.Art

Worked on a digital art marketplace experience where discovery, trust, and transaction clarity had to live together. I explored browsing systems, artist presentation, and purchase flows that gave collectors more confidence while still keeping the product expressive, editorial, and easy to move through from first glance to checkout.

June 2022 - December 2022

Lead Designer

Aardvark Messenger

Designed a Web3 messaging concept that combined conversation, identity, and wallet-based actions inside one coherent interface. The project focused on reducing the unfamiliarity of blockchain mechanics, using familiar chat patterns and clearer decision states so advanced behaviors felt approachable, trustworthy, and usable in everyday moments.

January 2022 - May 2022

Product Designer

ClinicFlow

Worked on an operations concept for healthcare teams that needed quicker visibility into appointments, patient context, and staff handoffs. I focused on calmer task flows, clearer status communication, and interfaces that reduced the cognitive load of high-frequency admin work throughout the day.

July 2021 - December 2021

UX Consultant

Independent Client Work

Partnered with early-stage founders across product strategy, interface design, and lightweight design systems, usually stepping in when ideas were still rough and the product needed shape. My work translated messy requirements into usable flows, core screens, and implementation-ready directions that small teams could ship without losing momentum.

February 2021 - June 2021

Product Designer

Parcel Loop

Designed delivery and logistics workflows for a service product that had to coordinate customer expectations, driver actions, and internal operations in real time. I focused on clearer state changes, better exception handling, and handoff patterns that made the product feel dependable even when the system was under pressure.

January 2020 - July 2020

Product Designer

Beacon Finance

Worked on a consumer finance direction that needed to feel trustworthy, clear, and emotionally steady from the first screen. I refined onboarding structure, account views, and guidance states so users could understand where they were, what to do next, and why the product was asking for their attention.

June 2019 - December 2019

Product Design Intern

Commonplace Labs

Supported early product exploration across research synthesis, interface detailing, and design system cleanup, learning how small interaction decisions add up to a more coherent product. It was a strong foundation in turning ambiguous feedback into patterns, structure, and more thoughtful screen-level decisions.
